Chatbox, top, bottom or gone?

worse case, it can stick at the bottom with no real issues. 
It doesn't bother me on top either, to be fair, but then I'm just not easily bothered

Pop out would be the best option but at the bottom would be good too.

Pop-out would rock. Short of that, up top gets my vote. It'll actually get used.

I like the chat box at the top of the forums. Having a chat box allows us to interact with each other easier, and it's a lot of fun. We've had fun in the FB thing we've been using, and it's no different to that.

I'm of two minds of this. I think that at the top it's slightly distracting and as for first impressions for potential new members, if witnessing our occasionally boisterous banter due to our familiarity with each other I'm worried that it might turn people away, before they even have a chance to scroll down. I don't want it to seem like an old boys club and maximising our membership is a top priority.
I also tend to think that it can reduce the amount of posts in other threads, when people are more inclined to just pop their thoughts in the chatbox. If it stays at the top, it needs to be slightly smaller, at the bottom, it doesn't matter. I like the idea that a person can choose to go to chat or to threads but for instance, I just logged in right? Saw Kash in the box (hehe) and said hello and then wandered off to do this, right? So I have kind of left him hanging. For me, chat will be something I get to after I do the rounds of the threads - thats where my priorities lay in regard to that
