Music Discussion Thread
So I was thinking this site could use it's own music discussion thread. You can talk about whatever you like in the world of music.
What are some of your guys's favorite bands?
I'm a big fan bands like...
Foo Fighters
Florence and The Machine
Daughter
Pearl Jam
Nirvana
Bon Iver
Etc etc etc...
What do you guys like?

That's pretty freaking intense.
This is a pretty good Seattle band that isn't super popular.

And Perennial Isolation has that ineffable characteristic BM fans love: atmosphere.
Hey Marseilles: Not much my style, but I guess it's ok. hopefully for you, my brother hasn't catch this, knowing him he will murder it to pieces if I'm not mistaken.
And know, for something completely different:
Bought a DM tee, fits me live a goddamn glove.

One of my personal favourite discoveries would be Avantasia which is a rock-opera band formed by Tobias Sammet of Edguy.
This has to be one of my favourite songs:

Since I changed and started liking less that kind of metal, I still have good memories of their first album. Can't tell about the rest.

As a Helloween fan, having Michael Kiske doing metal again, was great (he is credited as Ernie)

Simply awesome. When you have a shit ton of talent playing cellos, and this song, nothing can go wrong.

It is beautiful i've been watching them these last few days. They must go through A LOT of bows seeing their other more hard rock ones. Though I hate reading the comments as if this is something original. Dammit Apocalyptica has been doing it for years!Asher wrote:So, after Apocalyptica has spent the past 15 years or so proving Cellos are awesome this happened.

Indeed. Just one more reason to never, ever read Youtube comments.

Re: Music Discussion Thread
You know what I love about bands like The Real Mckenzies, Flogging Molly, The Tossers etc? The sheer amount of varied instruments they bring, and how each song is unique. You know what else is awesome? When they can make a sweet song with just 1 instrument.
Examples:
Now you may be saying to yourself "Well Asher, those man-skirted bastards are awesome, but a violin and a set of bagpipes aren't that varied, even with Sean Connery showing up to play a bartender" To which I'd reply. First off, good eye, that is indeed Sean Connery. Second, check this out.
